We are still floating on cloud nine after last week’s quiz! A whopping €1,779.66 raised for our beloved fur faces! 🐾❤️
This is the highest amount we have ever raised at one of our quiz nights! Every single centime goes directly towards caring for our elderly dogs so they can spend the rest of their golden years surrounded by love, warmth, and comfort.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Amazing Community
We want to send a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came to support us by participating in the quiz, ordering food and drink, donating raffle prizes, buying raffle tickets and helping to clear up at the end! Your generosity makes our work possible.
A special shoutout goes to:
- Gillian and Karl: Thank you once again for all your hard work putting the quiz together! As usual, you delivered fantastic questions and caused plenty of head-scratching and arguing amongst team members.
- Dineke and Jill Gorman: Dineke was our superstar chef for the evening, supported by Jill in the kitchen. We even made Dineke come out to receive a well-deserved round of applause for her delicious menu—tasty chilli, vegetable curry with naan, and squidgy brownies with ice cream and caramel sauce. Thank you so much for your time and energy.
- Our Ground Team: Big cheers to Ali Stickler, Lesley Davies, Samantha Moore and Frédéric Passament for setting up, running the bar, serving and keeping things running smoothly.
- Our Clean-Up Crew: Thank you to everyone who stayed a bit later to help clear up—it was so deeply appreciated!
- And to Hannah Elizabeth Wight, who has not mentioned herself but done an amazing job on the entrance door and part of the ground team.
Spotlight on the Raffle 🎟️
The raffle was a huge part of our record-breaking success! We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated such fantastic prizes, as well as every person who bought tickets throughout the evening. On the table we had a box of delightful cakes from Caroline Mills, Whisky donted by Jo and Richard, Books, an Oven glove set, A bottle of Rosé + Wine Glasses, 2 vases from Theresa, mug set with a Dawn and Dusk tea towel and cloth bag. Tea bags donated by Linda
Team Spirit
We had a fantastic turnout for this quiz with 12 teams and all were playing to win! Questions were a mixed bag, covering French personalities, geography, polictics, art and architecture, music, science, general knowledge and made up! It think every team said ‘yes’ to the Americans inventing a pen that could be used in outer space, when the Russians settled on using pencils. The answer was in fact ‘no’ they didn’t! My team, ‘Creme Anglaise.’ were particularly miffed that they changed ‘White Dwarf’ to ‘Super Nova’ last minute, when guessing the name of a star that almost becomes a black hole – how many times do people walk away from this quiz saying ‘always go with your first guess’?
This quiz saw a return of the scoreboard on the stage, which had everyone up and out of their seats at half time, to see how far up the board they were. The final scores were close with changes in position between the 1st and 2nd round. A big congratulations to the ‘Trollopy Strumpets’ for their win and commiserations to ‘Older but none the Wiser’ which sadly seemed a little befitting on this occasion…though they did only have 4 members on their team!

Events like this simply couldn’t happen without our incredible volunteers, and as our events grow, we always need extra hands on deck!
We are already starting to plan our next quiz night, and we are looking for volunteers to join our team. Whether you can help with arriving 1hr early to set up tables, serving food, running the bar or staying behind to tidy up, your time would be so appreciated.
